Latitude display settings for external screen

When the system is docked the display settings are to large for screen so appears to be blank. If i boot system un-docked and change display settings for second monitor they are not remembered when docked.
If I F8 on boot and start in VGA mode the screen is OK, make change in display settings, changed settings not remembered on re-boot.
System bios video option has been set on different options (system, docked etc) and results are the same.
Hardware profile and video display properties shows 3 monitors - default and 2x plug-and-play monitors. I have added new hardware to install drivers for LG monitor so can choose as option..... no difference, still does not remember screen settings for external monitor.

Please help!!!

Hello I have the same problem and I have a D600 and a D/View dock I think. This used to work but now if I boot up connected to the D/view dock the external monitor is primary and I can not extend to another display. In that case I can´t use 2 monitors. If I boot up not in the Dock and then dock it I have 2 monitors and the laptop is a primary display. Also me changes are not remembered.

I have tried to update the Bios and made the Bios setup as a on a computer that is working fine but nothing works. The soultion seems to be to make the computer boot up with the labtops panel as the primary display. But I cant find the way to do that.

At the moment I am booting up and then docking so that 2 monitors work.

Please help us!

Looks like i fixed my own problem... it was down to the FN + F4 'screen' option for display mode on external and laptop monitor.

I undocked my laptop and connected the external screen direct to back of laptop.
Using the FN + F4 'screen' option I switched between the different modes until had the same display on both screens. I ensured that the video was setup correctly with both screens identified and the correct output for each. I then docked the laptop and rebooted, the display on the external monitor was displaying correctly.

I did find an alternate for the FN switch for external keyboard, so that you can toggle between screen modes while docked, but cannot remember at time of writing, will post later if I remember. You could always set the monitor up by the side of the docking station and run laptop with lid open to allow changes using FN switch, and then replace lid and monitor when set.

I hope that this helps.
