Latitude E6410 Control Point Software - Connection Manager Missing
I've recently purchase some Latitude E6410/E4310 laptops & have found that the Dell Control Point Connection Manager is not avaialble on these models.
There was a feature in this software that enabled you to disable to disable other network adapters when the laptop was docked or connected via the Ethernet adapter. This feature is needed for anyone who docks laptops in a corporate environment.
It is activated on the E6400/E4300 series Control Point Connection Manager by going to Profiles/Change Settings/Program Settings & checking the "disable Simultaneous Connections" box.
This feature is needed on the new E6410/E4310 models. Will it be avaialble or is there a work-around? Please don't tell me about the manual methods to enable/disable the wireless connection.
Thanks,

The Control Point Connection Manager Software is not avaialble on support.dell.com for the Latitude E4310/E6410 laptops. It also does not come pre-loaded on the laptops from Dell. This is not the case with the E4300/E6400 models.

According to http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&docid=342250
you should be able to enter your Service Tag and download the software

Thanks, but that wasn't it. It's the Control Point Connection Manager functionality that's missing. The System Manager & Security Manager don't deal with wired/wireless network connections.

Has this situation evolved since the original question? I also require to have the functionality to be able to disable wireless while connected to a wired connection for this model

No, no response from Dell on the missing functionality. Frankly, I'm very annoyed that they have removed this functionality on the newer Latitude E-series systems and not addressed it at all. Everyone in a corporate environment with wireless netwoeks and docking stations for laptops must have this issue.
A couple of things that I've found:
- The Controlpoint Connection manager software from the E6400/E4300 models seems to work on the E6410/E4310 models (R253886) to
disallow multiple network connections. I just use the Intel ProSet Wireless software (R257234) and the Intel 825XX LAN software (R267025) to
manage the actual connections.
- The Latitude D-Series D630 model now has the option to allow/disallow simultaneous networks connections right in the BIOS. It would be OK if Dell could
even do this for the Latitude E-Series.
Here's hoping that Dell will react somehow.

Install basic or advanced admin intel proset package, DO NOT install my wifi (from custom install options), DO INSTALL admin tools. launch admin tools after install and "make new package" change auto switch to ON and save package and apply settings (DO NOT apply to a specific wlan connection or profile as this is to be be system wide). This is the workaround I've found for enabling auto disable WLAN when wired

Thanks Dustin205! That worked! I don't know why we have to use and Admin tool to implement something that should already be in place. What reason could Dell have for leaving this vital feature out?!

just do this on your
1. wlan properies
2. advanced tab
3. locate disable upon wired connect
4. then change the value at the right side to disable.
Please response it if not successful

This works if you have the Dell wireless adapter. But for any of us that have an Intel adapter this option is not available.

We had to rebuild a customers e6410 due to a bad hard drive and now after undocking the laptop isn't able to get on line. Wireless states it is connected, but unless I do a release and refresh it won't get on line. The LT is configured with a Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN and from the Intel Driver posted above (Intel ProSet Wireless software (R257234) and the Intel 825XX LAN software (R267025) ) are 32bit. Will these drivers also work under a win7-64bit environment and should this resolve my problem?

sgmco,
Did you install the desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers first, when installing the operating system? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
This control anything that connected, like usb ports, wireles adapters, etc. You should be able to start with the desktop/notebook system utility and the chipset drivers and install from there.

sgmco,
Yes, I have seen that.
Did you try these Windows 7 64-bit drivers?
Intel(R) WiFi Link 6200
Intel 825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
If these don't install properly, uninstall and then try them in the Vista or XP Compatibility mode
