Latitude XT microphone array

I have a latitude XT tablet with Vista. Within a week of using it, the solid state drive failed, and I had

to completely reinstall vista. Now I notice that the microphone array records barely audibly, so it's basically

useless.

 

Does anyone have a latitude XT with vista for which the microphone array works?

Might I need to install an updated (or downdated) driver?

Does anyone have a latitude XT with XP for which the microphone array works?

 

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using a Latitude XT with Vista 32 Business OS, and my microphone is pretty much useless as well.  I just installed the latest Sigmatel driver (1/18/08 on Dell's support page) and nothing improved.  I had an old Latitude D800 which had a great microphone built in -used for recording meetings, speakerphone, etc.  Is this just a driver issue or a hardware issue? Any thoughts?

I am having this same problem.  Mine also worked before I was forced to do a re-install.  Now I have to use an external MIC all the time.
