monitor "pin" problems

Okay, so I'm not exactly sure what the correct terminology for this part is, but what I'm having problems with is the little 'pin' that sticks up near the power switch that allows your computer monitor to go blank when the computer is closed. Somehow it got stuck in, and it's not coming back up. The monitor stays on when it's closed now, and if I touch, or move the computer too much, the display sometimes blanks out as a result. It's strictly a hardware issue, though, as the computer works fine when the display works.

Any advice?

Thanks,
-zale

Which laptop do you have? On most of them, the bezel piece is easily remove and then replaced, or you can poke into the hole with a needle to pop the lid sensor out.

Thanks for the response. I have a inspiron 8500. I'll fiddle around and try your suggestions. Thanks.
