Mouse arrow moves erratically

Hi,

I have a Dell Latitude C600 laptop with dual boot to NT and ME operating systems. Since last few days my mouse is behaving erraticially and moves on its own and doesn't let me use the laptop. This has started whether I boot in NT or ME.

I tried downloading Synaptics touchpad driver from Dell website and installed it. It didn't work so I tried generic driver from Synaptic website and that too didn't work. I also tried reinstalling the latest BIOS. Nothing worked.
Can you please help me?

Regards,
Mukesh Kumar

This is a known problem for this laptop and typically Dell will replace the palm rest and keyboard if warrantied.

read hvera81's reply to the thread: Mouse cursor moves by its own against my will (acting like a spring)

His workaround to this problem is disabling the pointing stick.
