Mouse icon keeps disappearing

Hello, I'm new to Dell and Windows 8. I recently got an Inspiron 15z touchcreen ultrabook with windows 8.

Often I'll be on the net/playing a game/composing an email/pretty much anything and my mouse will disappear and I can't make it come back. I can still use the touchscreen; but no matter of swiping or clicking the touchpad makes the mouse come back.

Any advice?

Thanks so much.

Hi NovazMum,

I would advise that you refresh the drivers for the touchpad by going into the device manager. Please follow the steps mentioned below.

1.    Open the charms bar by moving the mouse to right top corner of the screen and in the search box, type ‘Device Manager’, and then, in the list of results, click ‘Device Manager’.
2.    When the device manager pops up, in the list please check for ‘Mice and other pointing device’.
3.    Please click on the arrow mark beside ‘Mice and other pointing device’.
4.    Right click on the touch pad device(Cypress) and select Uninstall.
5.    Restart the computer and check for issue resolution.

Please let me know if this helps.

Hi courtne,

I would suggest you to connect an external USB mouse to the system. I would suggest you to update the BIOS and touchpad drivers on the system for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below and click on ‘Get drivers and downloads’ then download the BIOS from BIOS section and touchpad driver from ‘Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices’ section onto the system and install it.
