Network Adapter Issues.
Hi,
I have had my Dell Inspiron 17r 7720 since March 2013 if I remember correctly, and I noticed an issue with the network/wireless adapter.
When I am using wi-fi, after 10-15 minutes of watching a video or doing anything, my connection goes to "limited connection" and I have to disconnect my internet and re-connect every time. It didn't seem to happen at the beginning, but since 2-3 weeks ago, this has become a huge issue. It is very annoying because I have to re-connect my internet every time.
I have checked the other two laptops in my mouse and they have zero issues. I tried resetting the network adapter settings on this laptop and on my modem, and the issue is not solved.
I would like to know what I can do to fix this issue. I tried to figure out the issue with the live chat, but there was no answer and it seems confusing. The email took me to the diagnostic and the diagnostic didn't even finish. I do run regular hardware check-ups and it does not show any issues.
I think the network adapter is faulty or dying, but I am not sure.
Is there a way I could fix this issue or get the part replaced by Dell?
Any answer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)
By the way, the network adapter is: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230.

Hi Mahimul Hoque,
This issue generally occurs due to the incompatibility of Windows 8's wireless settings when connected to the router via the wireless card. So I will be sharing some of the settings with you here which you can try and go about changing them to see if it helps.
First of all, open Device Manager on the computer by pressing Win+R key (on the desktop) and typing devmgmt.msc in the Run box, then press the Enter key. Filter down your search to Network Adapters in the list of devices. Once you find Network Adapters, click on the tiny arrow mark in front of it to expand. Right-click on the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 card and select properties. A new window should now pop-up. Go to the Advanced Tab and change the following settings:
Click on Apply and then OK. Close the device manager. Click on your battery icon on the bottom right hand side and then click on more power options. Power option window will open up. Now your power plan by default will be selected as Balanced. So on the right hand side would be an option that says 'Change Plan Settings' , so click on it and another small window will popup. There, click on + sign for Wireless Adapter settings and choose maximum performance for both on battery and on adapter usage. Click Apply and OK
Now restart the computer once and you would have to connect to your wireless network once again since we had changed the settings. Use the computer now and check if the wireless functions properly or not and whether it has stopped dropping the connection intermittently.
Hope this helps.

I just wanted to thank you personally for this help.. I have sent my laptop out to be serviced twice and the guy never fixed the issue.. My husband tried for months to get our wifi to work when it stopped and nothing until today.. So it hasn't worked since Sept 2013.. Now Feb 2014 and I fixed it myself with your instructions.. Thank you very much Tara
