Hello , Arnold

Hope you are doing good

Okay Arnold , as you have mentioned that NIC card of the system ist working , here is what you can try

1- you can try to run the dignostics on the NIC card of the system which will detect if there is a hardware failure.

TO RUN PSA DIGNOSTICS ON THE SYSTEM--

shut down the system.

press fn key and keep it holding and press power button and release both at the same time , this will start the diagnostics on the system and you will on screen it says " BOOT PARTITION SELECTED". if you dont see this then try again to run this. This will let you know if there is a hardware failure.

2-you can also try to ping NIC card . which will let you know if it has gone bad or not.

TO PING NIC CARD-

Go to start and then run (in case of XP) in case of vista in search box type CMD  and press.

In the black box there type ping 127.0.0.1 and press enter.

If this does not show anything or shows any error messges like "times out" or anything else that means NIC card has gone bad.

3- you can also check for the network light activilty when network wire is connected and also try to use any other good known n/w wire and make sure internet is working fine. if network light is still not coming on . reinstall the N/W drivers and before you do that please disconnect the ac adaptor and also battery of the system and press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds and then connect back everything and restart the system and then reinstall network drivers and try again.

4- finally if nothing works you need to treplace the motherboard of the system

I know Arnold how much a motherboard and cost so here is what you can do to avoid that as well. you can use a USB TO NIC connector. there are connectors avil in the market which connects to USB port of the system and on other end provides NIC port from where you can access wired internet. this wire cost around 7 to 15$ depending upon the brand . you can opt for any brand and this will avoid MOBO replacemnt and will save alot of money. I HOPE THIS WILL MAKE YOU A LILLTLE HAPPEY.

Thanks

Kenney

Hi Kenney,

Thank you for the prompt response, I have tried the option no. 2 i can ping the IP address and has reply...  i think the LAn card has no problem.

My laptop Dell D505 has given to me from my boss, but the CD drivers was lost, what i did is i dowload all the drivers from Dell with this model.. after installing all the drivers i noticed that in the network connection only Wireles, bluetooth and Net adapter appears, the LAN was not there.. its supposed to be there right? The wireless connection is working fine and blue tooth.. when i conect the network cable there is a light... blinking on the port...  but i dont know if its connected or working since there is no indication in the network connection on LAN.

I check the NIC from the control panel the network card is OFF, cannot be ON. I believe i need a driver installer for the LAN Card.. Can you provide me a driver for the LAN card? coz i already browse on Dell support all the dirver for the Latittude D505 and installed already but still cannot turn on the NIC network card.

Hope you can help me... Thank you very much.. God Bless you.
