I have tried drivers multiple versions including one straight from microsofts website that was supposed to be the most current. When I did install a driver though it would overwrite the synaptics touchpad driver instead and not recognize the mouse.
I feel your pain. You are trying to get a old friend that is not dead yet to work on your blasted computer. The rejection of a perfectly good mouse by an uppidy laptop is annoying.
You checked some box that said " I am a touchpad and if I detect another mouse thru a USB port I will back off."
This setting seems to work for a short while, showing that the touchpad does detect the mouse for a short period of time. Is there a disable it forever option?
So how about checking out the USB ports through Device driver? See any of those cute little yellow question marks next to the driver icon?
Oh, you have already done that?
Tine to raise the white flag and buy a usb mouse, one that you can actually return to the store if it doesn't work.
