Processor microcode update failure

I have an Inspiron 8600 and recently its had some trouble coming out of hibernation.  On one or two occasions I've had to press the power button a couple of times before it would start up.  Then a few days ago I had to press it 10 or 15 times... The power led would light up and the capslock led would flash for a few minutes, but then just go dark.  Eventually I got it to start, but I was really hesitant to shut it off again.  Finally last night I hibernated it again, thinking maybe it was just a freak coincidence, but sure enough same deal this morning.  the only difference is a new message that came up on screen about twice out of the 10 to 15 times I had to try to power up:

***Processor Microcode Update Failure***

The revision of processor in the system is not supported.

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the Setup Utility

I've looked for information on this error online, but I can only find people getting it when they've tried to upgrade their laptop cpu's, which I certainly haven't done.  Should I try to update the BIOS or something?  I haven't done that recently either, so I don't know why that would be a problem.  Does anyone know if shutting the computer down instead of hibernating it would be safer (i.e. more likely to actually turn back on) or should I just avoid shutting my computer off?  Thanks for your help!
