RAM transferrable?
Hello all,
I've just upgraded the RAM in my Inspiron 8100 to the full 512MB, so I now have x2 128MB cards to sell on ebay. Can anyone tell me if this RAM is good for another Dell machine so I can put that in my description.
Many thanks in advance.
Nick

If you have another laptop you can probably transfer that ram to it, but I think you can't put it in a desktop computer, I haven't tried but I know that the ram chip from a laptop is a lot smaller then the ram chip from a desktop

Ok, thank you.
Do you know if it will fit another type of Dell laptop?
Thanks, Nick

PC133: Inspiron 8100, 4100 and 2600; Latitude C810, C610, C400 and C510
PC133 SDRAM generally also works in laptops that require PC100 and PC66 SDRAM, so here two lists of some Dell laptops using these types of RAM:
PC100 Inspiron 7500, 8000, 7000, 4000, 5000, 3800, 3700, 3500, 2500 and 2100; Latitude C800, C600, C500
PC66 3100 and many others
The following Dell laptops are for sure incompatible with PC133 SDRAM because they use DDR-SDRAM:
Inspiron 8200, 8500, 8600, 4150, 2650, 1100, 1150, 1000, 600m, 500m and 510m
Latitude C840 C640 C540 D800 D600 D500 D505
Precision M60
