Realtek Memory Card Reader Driver
First of all...I am using a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 laptop. I have clean installed Windows 8 from the DVD Dell supplied after purchasing the laptop. Windows 8 installs but with several items in Device Manager as UNKNOWN DEVICES.
I have downloaded all current drivers and installed them in the correct order and restarted the machine after each driver installs.
After the machine sets for about a half hour, there is a message in Action Center that states "install the memory card reader driver" and pushes me to Realtek's website where I can download drivers. However, it states that the Card Reader is a different model number than the one Dell lists for my Service Tag. Dell says it is for Realtek Card 5179. Windows says that it is 5139/5129. I have looked at the original configuration of this computer and cannot find that card reader anywhere. Can someone help me find the correct Card model number and the updated driver to make Windows stop that error in Action Center?
Thanks for your help

In Device Manager, right-click the device, Properties, Details tab, change dropdown to Hardware Ids ... post the VEN and DEV ID's here. Did you install the chipset drivers FIRST?

Sorry it took me so long to get back but I reinstalled Windows 8- actually did a reset and completely erased all files which took 5+ hours.
However, to answer your question I did update the chipset drivers first. There are 3 of them on Dell's Drivers and Utilities page and with my service tag typed in. After those 3 drivers I installed the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. Then Audio driver. Then Video driver. Then Realtek Lan driver. Then Quickset. Then Wireless Card 1705/Bluetooth driver. Then Touchpad. I think I am following Dell's instructions correctly as per driver install order.
I have done this at least 5-6 times and every time the error "install memory card reader driver" appears in Action Center. There are no items in Device Manager after I install all of the above drivers. The only way I can get rid of that error is go to Realtek's site (which Action Center pushed me to) and download a driver for what looks like a different Realtek card.
Thanks for your help. I would be very interested in hearing your comments/suggestions.
