Speakers not working

My speakers are no longer working. I just had my Motherboard replaced which fixed the problem, but after a while they stopped working again. I ran my Dell Diagnostics and i received an an error when it was running the Audio portion of the Diagnostics. The error was 1B63:061b. And it was during the Analog Sound Playback Test.

The computer is a Dell INSPIRON 1501 Laptop.

Any help would be great!

They probably put in a refurbrished MB.

Try the test again. Does the headphone jack work? Try hp's during the test , too. If the computer just can't pass the test then you need another MB. Sorry.

Jim

edit: But if you do hear through the headphones then it might just an issue with the speakers.

Ok, so get this. When i rebooted the computer the speakers worked?! When i turned it on the first time they were making a cracking sound, like if they had been blown. I finally checked the sound option in the control panel and it was on Mute. But i had taken it off of Mute. After that i checked the speakers and they worked. And the headphone jack works too.

So now im really confused. How did the sound options go to Mute, all by itself? Why were the speakers making that cracking sound?

I don't know. Hope the fix holds.
