Switching on Wireless capability

Hi, I recently got a second hand latitude d500, a friend of mine said that i need to 'switch on the wireless functionality by opening it up and flicking a switch in there.' Does this sound right? If so where can i found out more on this set up? It's running xp pro!

If your wireless capability is obtained via a MiniPCI card, your friend may have been thinking of the option to enable/disable that functionality via System Setup, and option which is available on at least some portable systems.
