System Exchange Question

I have a question regarding system exchanges.

Today a technican agreeded to set up a system exchange for my system.

The only thing is, I am worried that I will get another inspiron 9300, and this is a problem because I have had issues consistently with my 9300.

Also the 9300 dell gave me, had 1 gig of RAM originally. I have upgraded that to two gigs of RAM and am worried that the system they exchange mine for will have only 1 gig of RAM instead of the two that it has now.

I am just wondering if these things are likely to happen, because I do not know what system they will exchange my current one for.

Thanks,

Chris

You will not get a 9300 - they haven't been made in some time.  You will either get a refurbished 9400 (still unlikely) or more likely a 1720.  If the system originally shipped with 1G and you bought another gig later, return the system with only the original RAM - if it's useable in the new system, you can re-use what you bought.  If it's too slow for the new system, you'll need to buy more RAM yourself.

Thanks, and is the RAM for an inspiron 9300 compatible with the 1720 or 9400? If so I can just swap the RAM with the 9300 and whatever computer I get as a replacement right?

Also, is there a way I can get an idea of what they are sending me or do I have to wait until I physically get it to find out what I got?

Thanks. Do you have the number I can call, and how long from today should I expect it to be processed? Also, am I able to buy new covers just in case I end up with a pink laptop?

Also, how can I check if the RAM in my system is PC2-5300 or higher?

Thanks for answering my questions.

If you bought faster RAM than the 9300 needs, you can use it (i.e., PC2-5300). If you bought PC2-4200 you should not use it with the 1720; it'll slow things down.

You'll have to call and ask them what they're sending you - but plan on it probably coming with Vista, not XP.

The newer systems are painted in color, and don't take covers.

Thanks, and I am wondering, how long will it take for my system exchange to be shown as an order? It's been over a day and all I have gotten is a dispatch number, I havent gotten any service call numbers or things like that.
