System hangs during HDD controller BIOS

Hi,

I change some settings in the BIOS of my E6400 (enabled VT, set battery charger to standard, set HDD password and enabled TPM).

If I start the system now it reboots once right during the screen of the HDD controller BIOS is displayed, boots up again and hangs at the same position where reboot was done during first startup.

The screen just displays:

Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager option ROM v8.0.0.1039 ICH9M-E

Copyright(C) 2003-08 Intel Corporation. All Rights Reserved.

I tried to load BIOS default settings, but it is even not possible to enter the BIOS anymore.  Although pressing F12 when BIOS screen is displayed is recognized "Preparing one-time boot menu..." it is not possible to enter the BIOS, because it normally would come right after the screen of the HDD controller BIOS.

So the result is, that I cannot start the system anymore. Booting from other media is not possible, too, because this would also take place right after the HDD controller BIOS. I already tried to remove the hardisk and boot from DVD, but sadly with the same result.

I really hope that anybody can help me! Dell support refuses to help me this weekend, because I have a Latitude and Latitudes are only done by business support that is only available on working days in my region :-\

Cheers,

- Rainer

OK, managed to get things working. When you see the Dell logo during boot-up, keep pressing F2 until you enter Setup. Then, disable the TPM. This worked for me. Of course, enabling the TPM should not have the side-effect of disabling the whole machine, so I hope Dell takes notice of this serious defect.

I hit the exact same issue. Did you ever find out how to resolve it?

Thanks.

I have been trying this for about ten minutes and trying to get my computer up for a half an hour. Does anyone have any suggestions?
