Touch Screen Freezing

If someone could please help.  I have a new Dell Inspiron Laptop running Windows 8 with a touchscreen.  Suddenly the touch screen is freezing intermittently and requires a reboot to work again.  And even then sometimes it requires several restarts before it will work.  At times I can swipe the main screen but am unable to swipe to get the search bar.  This is very frustrating.  Especially since the laptop is only about 6 months old.  I've tried contacting Dell Support but am unable to be on the phone for the length of time it takes for them to try to figure something out.  I'm wondering if it needs a driver update?  Or maybe a BIOS update?  I'm hoping someone has a suggestion that I can try on my own when I have time to sit at the computer.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi shaf1070,

Sorry for the late reply, I checked the system records and found that updating the BIOS to latest version and calibrating the touchscreen has fixed the issue. Please let me know if the issue still persists.

I will be glad to assist you further.
