touchpad mouse moving erratically

Hi,

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 5547 about 2 weeks ago. I've noticed a problem with the touchpad. My mouse sometimes moves erratically by itself. I'm not sure if this is a windows 8.1 issue, a hardware issue or driver issue. Any help would be appreciated.

ps. I have noticed that closing the monitor and then opening it again usually stops the mouse the issue temporarily. However it is quite an annoying and inconvenient problem.
