Touchpad replacement
My dell c600' touchpad locks up or goes eratic on mouse moverments. I have been through the posted Keyboard/pointing device FAQ with no luck. Is it possible to get the part number for the touchpad ?

I cannot provide the part number for you. You will have to call in to Dell to receive this. I looked at the system that corresponds to the service tag in your profile. If this is the system you are referring to, you will want to contact Dell Spare Parts at 1-800-372-3355.

Are you sure the touchpad is the source of the problem? Its more likely to be the touchstick in the centre of the keyboard. If you have the latest touchpad drivers, you'll be able to turn either of these off which should give you some indication of the source of the problem. Another way to diagnose the problem would be to try removing the keyboard altogether and use an external kb. This will rule out the touchstick.
I believe 854JE is the kb part number, R1402 is the palmrest part number.
