touchpad scroll not working
Since installing a new antivirus on my Dell inspiron 1564, my scroll function on the touchpad is not working. I have tried the following, but so far none have worked:
re-installed the touchpad driver
tried to change settings under start/control panel/mouse - but it only comes up with mouse options - I cannot see anything to do with the touchpad
on several help websites it has says something about right clicking the touchpad icon (on the bottom right hand side of my screen by the clock?) - I cannot see anything that is a touchpad icon
This is now driving me mad - please can anyone help.
P.S. I am totally self taught on computers, so please go easy on the techie info and instructions :-)
Thank you so much for any help or ideas you may have xx

Hi mrswattsy,
Please follow the steps below to unblock the touchpad software from the windows firewall.
Go to Start menu, control panel and select Windows firewall. Towards the left of the screen, please select Allowed programs. You will see a box which has a list of programs blocked. Check if Alps or touchpad is shown in the box and allow the application.
I hope this helps you

Hi mrswattsy,
I suspect the firewall setting on the antivirus software is blocking the touchpad driver. I request you to check the firewall setting of your antivirus software and check if the touchpad software is blocked. If yes, please unblock the Dell touchpad software.
Ensure that "Scroll lock" on the keyboard is not activated
I hope you find this useful

Thanks so much for your reply.... I just have the built in windows firewall on my computer and cannot find anywhere that says about the touchpad and also my keyboard does not seem to have a 'scroll lock' on it.
Would you happen to have any more ideas?
Thank you so much for your help.
