wet computer, keyboard broken

Last night, I spilled about a cup of water on my inspiron 5100 keyboard. It was on the bottom left corner. I turned off the computer, unplugged everything, removed the memory module, hard drive, and battery. I dired everything I could reach off. I waited for about a day and restarted and the keyboard doesn't work at all except the enter key makes a beeping noise. I can't log on to my computer because of it now. I don't know what I should do. I restarted it a couple of times and one time it said the computer can't start because it is missing or a file is corrupt. Anybody know what to do?

Thanks, Pat

Try using an external USB keyboard, run Dell diagnostics to identify any other problems.  If it's only the KB that's fried, you can get one by clicking here.

I take it you don't have complete care coverage?

Try to take out the keyboard out of the computer, then check a USB keyboard if you still have the beep sound that mean something else is damage in there, you can find the instructions in the service manual, its very easy.

Good luck

I tried a USB keyboard and that did the same thing as the built-in keyboard. Now the built-in keyboard is somehow working. It doesn't work all the time though. Right now I am using the keyboard while typing this. And how do you run the diagnostics to find out what is wrong? I don't think i have complete coverage.
