Windows cannot detect my battery

I have a very odd problem with my inspiron e1705.  Windows cannot detect my battery.  The icon on the start menu states: "No Battery Is Detected" when there is a working battery in my laptop.  I tested the battery using the button on the bottom of it and it is fully charged.  I can safely unplug my computer and the computer will run off the battey.  Although the laptop is running purely on the battery, it still cannot detect the battery and the charging battery icon will turn yellow.  Even my bios cannot detect the battery.  How can I fix this?

I just started having the exact same problem yesterday, on my Inspiron E1505.  It still thinks it is plugged in even when it is unplugged.  The battery powers the computer fine but is not recognized buy.  I tried updating the bios but it won't allow it without the computer recognizing a battery present.  Any help is appreciated.

Updating the bios will not do anything for the battery.  I just tried it this morning via flash drive.  I also tried reinstalling windows which also did not work.  Any ideas?
