Windows Not Booting up? Error code 0f00:136C.......Please help
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1200 Notebook Laptop, on startup it goes to a black screen with the Error message that Windows can't load due to Blank media or no media present in the optical drive.
I've tried to run in safe mode but the same message also comes up with the black screen. I did do a diagnostic and it came up with the error code 0f00:136c Msg IDE device failed. I also tried to put the windows reinstallation cd in but it wouldn't read.
I would appreciate any info on the situation.

I have the same problem (error message), but it doesn't start up enough to even see the start button, to change anything. Can you tell me how to start it up enough to to even see the start button. The window XP logo comes up starts to load then it goes black. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your quick response. I use my laptop for work, so I really need it fixed.
It doesn't seem dead because I can run the diagnostic tests. I haven't put in a DVD because I didn't want
to have to reinstall windows unless I had to. I am on a diagnostic screen that is mmo61, and boot sequence is highlighted, with HDD being second, I read to make it first, but the cursor isn't active so I can't select
HDD on the right side of the screen to move it up to be the first to boot.

"Error Code : 0F00:136C. Msg:IDE device failed: Blank media is present in optical drive"
So your hard drive is dead and it cannot read the DVD Drive.

It is possible to have a BAD HARD DRIVE that boots the diagnostic partition but is not repairable to be bootable and useable due to Physical damage that no software is going to fix. Drives in this condition WILL NOT WORK by being reformatted and reinstalled. Format does not fix physical damage.
