XP Resolution Automatically Changes

I have an E1705 originally installed with XP compatible with Vista. When Vista finally came out I got my upgrade. After realizing that Vista slows down my computer way to much and just not liking it, I reformatted back to XP. Now, when I start my computer the resolution is set at 1440 X 900 but after I close and then reopen my laptop, my resolution changes to a lower setting of 1280 X 768. I've been looking on forums here and other places and only found a solution for Vista. Unfortunately, there's not a task scheduler, under manage, making it not possible to go with that solution. If anyone could help it would be highly appreciated. Changing the solution every time I reopen my computer is getting really old and annoying. Thanks in advance!
