1537 SM Bus Controller driver needed

Hello,

I just reinstalled Vista from the disc because the D recovery did not work. At 1st the wireless card worked when Windows searched for a driver, then after letting Widows update a bit it lost the wireless connection and the laptop cannot even see an ethernet network. Weird. I have only one error in the device manager list and it is under Other Devices/SM Bus Controller. Looking at Properties it says that there isn't a driver installed. I have been to the Dell driver download site and I do not see anything that looks like the right driver.

What am I missing?

You need the chipset driver - also install the Dell notebook system software.

Hi ejn63,

You nailed the SM Bus issue, after installing the 2 drivers you suggested the alarm (!) went away in the device manager. There are no (!) markes at all. But, the wireless refuses to be enabled and the ethernet connection does not work either - strange. I thought for sure after these drivers were installed it would be all good. Any more suggestions?

Once you've installed the Dell notebook system software (which MUST be installed first), then install the network drivers.
