Accessibility Issue with Fn Key
There is an accessibility issue with Dell’s implementation of the Fn key on their Inspiron 8600 notebook computers.
How is a one handed person supposed to use the Fn + special keys? eg: change display brightness (Fn + up/down arrows on opposite sides of keyboard). Can’t even come close to reaching that far across the keyboard.
How about including an option in the next update of the BIOS to allow setting the Fn key to be “sticky (lock/un-lock).
My IBM T30 has this feature and I love it. Here’s how it works. Press the Fn key once and you can then press any of the special keys once. Press the Fn key twice, with-in about ½ second or so, to lock in on, and you can then use the special keys as much as you like, until you press the Fn key again to un-lock it.
Please Dell, pretty pretty please with sugar on top, add this feature to the Inspiron 8600.
Thanks

Put a pencil or a longer stick in your mouth and hit the Fn key.
Or go back to a IBM notebook.
Yes I am insensitive.

the pencil seems an extra step if you have a tongue... hmm ... better to lick a keyboard or write on it?
