D620 screen & shutdown delay

i) I have been issued a new D620 from my employer.  The notebook is great other than the horrible screen.  The screen almost has a grainy appearance and seems to be aweful looking at different angles.   Trying to adjust the display properties do nothing really.  I find the only way I can get a decent looking screen is to crank up the advanced color, contrast and vibrance settings.  With those changed its a little better.  For the cost of this notebook, I was expecting a much better screen.  I wonder if Dell has a replacement/upgrade for this panels that might work a lot better.

ii) When shutting down my D620, (Windows XP SP2), I will hang for approx 5-8mins.  I have tried different windows profiles to see if it was a profile issue and it was consistant with other profiles.  Other users in the company have complained of the slow system shutdown with XP on this model as well.  There was a suggested Microsoft fix for this but didn't do anything at all.  Has anyone experienced any of these symptoms with their D620'?

Are you running the screen resolution at the LCD panel's native settings?

If not that's why the picture is grainy.....

The screen quality issue is a known "feature" of the Latitude D620, and there is a HUGE thread about it, right here on the first page of Latitude->Video.

I am more concerned about the D620 shutdown problems with Windows XP SP2.  The screen problem looks like an OEM issue.  Nothing is going to fix that.  The OS taking forever to shut down both on and off a LAN connection is consistant with more than one computer.  I have been unable to find any solution with Dell or Microsoft so far.

I would love to know where the big long thread we created about the screen went...http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=latit_video&message.id=21944. DELL GIVE US OUR FORUM BACK!

We are having the same issue with the shutdown delay.  Have you found a fix for this yet?  I have figured out that it only does this when the AC adapter is plugged in, whether in the docking station or out of the docking station.
