Double Key on Laptop

I have an Inspirion 2200 and when I hit certain keys on my keyboard I get two letters.  For example, when I hit the "M" key I also get the comma key and when I hit the "J" key I also get the "k".  This happens on only a few letters but its frustrating.  Most of them are side by side but the "6" key and "=" are connected somehow, any suggestions?

tnshsms -

I'm sorry to say this, but it sure looks like your keyboard controller hardware is flaking out. Are most of the problems occurring in one row (Like, M - J - U)?

OK ...

Here's a thought: We should try removing the operating system from the equation, just in case.

Have you tried to run the Dell Diagnostics on your system yet?

I'm not familiar with your system, but to get to the diagnostics on my laptop, I do the following:

1) Turn off the system.
2) Hold down the blue "Fn" key.
3) Press the power on button.

This goes into a special power-up sequence that loads the Dell Diagnostics. If that doesn't work, you should have received a Dell Diagnostics CD with your system that you can boot from and run the diagnostics.

Once you're in the Diagnostic software, try running all the keyboard-oriented tests.

Let us know what you find out!
