DVI-VGA Adapters
Are there different DVI ports for laptop docking stations different than the ones on desktops? The adapter I use on my XPS desktop doesn't conform to the DVI port on the docking station. The XPS adapter has 4 extra pins that the laptop port cannot accept.

I have a Lattitude D600 with a D/Port Replicator. I am trying to use dual monitors by connecting a flat-panel display to the DVI port in the replicator. The flat-panel has a standard SVGA (DB-15) male connector. What I NEED is an adapter to mate the female DVI-D (I think it's a D) on the replicator to the male SVGA on the monitor.
I have been searching, with a resounding LACK of success, for a male DVI to female VGA adapter. The issue I keep coming up against is that all the DVI adapters that I can find are 29-pin DVI-I (or A?) adapters that have extra pins above and below the large flat pin. This prevents their use in the D/Port Replicator.
I also own an ATI Radeon 9000 video card, in another PC, that came with such an adapter, so I know they exist. ATI doesn't seem to remember them, or doesn't have them anymore.
Does anyone know where a simple AVI to VGA adapter can be obtained? Apparently Dell cannot provide one, even though they produce and sell the replicator that contains that port. If anyone at Dell CAN answer this question, I'd be most appreciative.

Appologies if I break any rules, as this is my first post to these forums.
What type of DVI connection does my Dell Portable computer or Dell Docking station have?

Docking ports for the Dell Laptops use the DVI-D connection.
DVI-D connection unfortunately are Digital only.
Video Cards with DVI-A and DVI-I connections support Analog signals, which can be converted with the adaptor to a DB-15 plug.
DVI-D you cannot. Hence the reason why there aren't any holes on the plug, to stop you from trying.
You can plug one analog video device, and one digital video device into the docking port, and that's it.
Here a links for describing about DVI connections.
