Firewire??

Please forgive me I'm kinda new to this.....

I just bought a Panasonic Camcorder and when I tried to download from the tape to my Inspiron 9200 I learned that my computer won't accept the "FIREWIRE" cable that I bought. I now realize that I need to have the firewire "Board" to make this work.

My question is... can I have this installed in my computer or do I need to buy a newer notebook? If I can have it installed, can I take it to a local retailer (like circuit City, ext) to have it done or do I need to find a more specialized place.

Thanks....

off hand I can't remember if you model comes with an inbuilt 4 pin firewire port.

if it doesn't then all you will need is to get a pcmcia firewire card which slides into the pcmcia slot at the side of your laptop.

I'm almost 100% sure the 9200 comes with firewire. All you need is a 6 pin to 4 pin cable, probably you have a 6 pin to 6 pin one.
