The battery is failing. The flashing lights indicate that one or more cells inside is faulty.

So, I'm going to start having problems with it soon enough? I guess at this point I need a new battery...What do they run, 30-60 dollars?

What is the significance of odd light patterns on the front of my laptop? The far right of the three indicator lights, the one with the battery image next to it is flashing yellow three times then green. It is doing this constantly. I am not having any power problems, my notebook works while pligged in, and the battery charges like normal. Can anyone enlighten me on what the flashing might mean?

I had a similar problem. turned out a new battery did not fix things. I needed a new motherboard. It was replaced under warranty. Of course I had to by a new battery first to see if that was the problem. It cost $107 including tax.

I suggest you buy the battery online from Dell. You can buy it from other vendors, but when you don't know if it is the notebook or battery, and if the notebook is still under warranty from Dell, you want the new battery under warranty from Dell.

Maybe you will get lucky and it will only be the battery!
