Inspiron 1501-not recognizing battery
When I power up my laptop, I get an error that the battery is not recognized, therfore won't charge. Right now the battery is plugged into the laptop and the outlet but the laptop states "no battery detected". The battery light is flahing red. I have tried 3 different batteries. All with the same outcome. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for all your help.

I had a similar problem with mine, in the end, I updated the system BIOS with a download from Dell's support site (type in your service tag to make sure you're getting the proper downloads for your system).
This cured the problem for 2 or 3 weeks, after that time, my laptop was nice enough to inform me that the battery was at the end of its days and required replacement. I litterally get about 30-40 seconds when I uplug it. I'll be calling Dell on this tomorrow and looking for some warranty on a system that isn't a year old yet.
But try the BIOS update, worked great for me!
