Keyboard mapping while on a virtual machine reversed

I have a Inspiron 1501 laptop running XP Pro SP3. For my Oracle class, we connect to our Oracle program and databases using VMware (through the school's website) which in turn runs Oracle on Windows Server 2003. I can get through VMware's logon processes with no problems. However, when I start up Oracle's Enterprise Manager and get to that logon screen. My keys, namely the Fn keys for the number pad, are reversed. For example, if my username is system, it would type out as syste0 (the m is a zero). The 'I' key types as 5, the 'J' key as 1, and so on. Is there any type of fix or something I can set up while on the virtual machine? I don't have this problem at any other time other than that.

Thank you for your help.

Problem solved. It appears the problem was related to VMware. It tends to toggle the number lock to on when you load it. I also tried an external keyboard and this also toggled the number lock to on. As long as you remember to check to see if the number lock is on/off, you should be alright.
