Latitude x300 notebook with screen problem

At first i thought it might be screen burn but i have replaced the panel (had to cos i dropped it!!) but the problem is still there.
It is a strange tie-dye like circle say 6 inches across in the middle of my screen barley viasble but quite annoying at the same time.
Could it be a video adapter problem? Maybe an internal cable? Software?

Any help very welcome

Thanks

Barry

Hi Barry,

I just bought a used x300 and the screen has exactly the same problem.  Tie dyed looking circle about 6 inches across.

Have you had any joys fixing it or finding the problem??

Any help appreciated.

Problem found!!!

I opened up the screen and there are several spongy 'pads' between the lid and the screen.  The images on the screen are in the exact same positions and shapes as the pads.  I tried everything to clean/remove this imaging but alas - all I managed to do was put a big crack through the screen - so there you go.  Don't try a fix it - the problem has been caused by excessive weight onthe lid and this in turn has permanently damaged the LCD.

If anyone knows where to get a cheap screen from, please let me know - maybe we can get a discount for three??!!!

Hmm.  Yeah I read you post, that's why I thought I could fix it.  I did peel some of the pads off the back, but little difference that made considering.

I removed the white paper sheet from the lcd and could see the pad marks on that, I then seperated the lcd layers as best I could.  You could see and feel the circle and small squares on the screen.  I was trying to wipe them when the screen snapped.

Did you buy a 'brand new' screen or a refurb/second hand one?

But i have just changed for a brand new LCD and it still has the faint circle. I connected an external monitor and no circle so it cant be an internal problem with the video card..Did you try taking out the black sponge from the cover?

Ouch - that's expensive.  Ebay £199 brand new.

Anyway, makes no sense that it is still happening with a brand new screen.  You obviously replaced the whole screen.

Anyway, the guy I bought this X300 from is going to provide me with a new screen in a few days as he didn't realise the extent of the issue (even better now I cracked it) so I will be in touch once mine is 'hopefully' resolved.  I have also emailed Dell for assistance so if I get a reply, I'll post it.

Well, that's my issue solved.  A new screen and that was it.  The screen you purchased cannot possibly be brand new if it was still doing the same thing.  It must have already been a burnt screen or maybe refurbished.  So I'm all good, hope you get sorted.
