Mac Address and serial number
Hi, I bought a Dell Studio 17 about 2 years ago as a gift for my mother in-law. Unfortunately the laptop was left somewhere else. I was told that we can trace the where about of the lap top by knowing the MAC address and serial number if the person who found it is using the internet. The problem is we do not have any idea how to find those MAC address and my mother in-law do not know the serial number. Is there any chance that Dell can help us to find the information we need? Anybody please help. We do not know what to do for important infos are saved in that lap top. Thanks.

You can get the service tag number from Dell by means of your order information - however, unless you've recorded the MAC address previously, there's no way to tie find the MAC address -- it's not tied to the service tag number in any way.
