Missing LCD drivers?

Hi, I just completed a reformat/reinstall of Windows XP on my Inspiron 8100 w/ ATI Radeon 7500 mobility 64MB graphics card. The installation does not detect which LCD screen I have on the laptop. I'm sure this would help alleviate some problems I have with system standby/hibernate. (When I close the lid to go into standby...I get no display upon opening the lid to "wake up", however, if a secondary monitory is connected, I get display on it....and ONLY it until a system restart. Obviously, this is VERY annoying. Can't do stanby...have to just shutdown/cold boot).

Any suggestions to what I choose as the "primary" monitor/display for the 15" UXGA screen of the 8100?

Thanks in advance.

*EDIT--> An Update* I was using the newest Omega drivers (assuming newer drivers are better?) instead of the last official release from Dell (really, really old in the driver world...). I just finished the process of uninstalling the Omega's and installing Dell's...and system standby/restore works again. Is there something I'm missing with getting it working correctly with the Omega drivers?

Roger

have you installed the video driver from the drivers disk...or you can also update your video driver by downloading it on this website...just click on the download link...then download the latest video driver...

i had a similar problem using Dell's drivers after updating my 5150'sbios to A33,    so i tried the latest Omegas.. didnt fix anything,   I DLed the earlier Omega (2514) and not only does my screen turn off again while closed, the resolution doesnt change (messing up my icons) and so far (fingers crossed) i havent had to reboot the system cause the screen wont turn back on after shutting the screen.

hope that helps
