replacing c640 screen with c600 screen

Can I install a c600 screen on a c640 laptop?

If so, what modifications would I need to make?

Latitude c600 and Latitude c640

It should work, but be sure you buy the screen, inverter and cable together -- the latter two parts don't fit all screens - they are very often model-specific.

Thanks for the advice ejn63.

Is there anyone out there who has actually done this? The cable/inverter for the C600 is different than the C610-C640 cable/inverter. It looks pretty simple to pull out the piece of grey insulation/padding underneath the hinge in the C610/C640 and clip off the two little flaps on either side of the C600 cable where it attaches to the C600 case under the hinge so it will fit in the well underneath the C610-C640 hinge.

Sorry I do not know the terminology for these parts, but would like to hear from someone who has done it before I start modifying parts.
