touchpad gesture not working in Mozilla FireFox

I have a 600m and am using the alps touchpad driver version 5.4.102.4.

the problem I'm encountering is that the back and forward web gestures do not work from within the firefox browser, but they do work from within IE and the windows shell, as it should as it's the same code. I have not tested it with the full blown Mozilla suite, but I will be testing that soon. Has anyone successfully gotten those gestures to work in firefox?? Any insights might be helpful.

Thanks,

/jhs

That feature isn't available on Firefox...yet! It's a common complaint amongst Firefox users. Do email them and request it. Maybe if they get enough requests, they will implement it on their next release.

so I was speaking w/ a friend that ahs the 700m laptop, this feature works w/ firefox on his laptop, but he's got the synaptics touchpad, not the alps. I've had 2 laptops from dell before this 1 and they both had a synaptics touchpad, so why does this 1 use alps? and do you think dell will swap it if i call them?

From reading Bugzilla

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202615

It would appear that the problem might be with the Alps driver. From what people have mentioned in that thread it seems as though the driver is not passing the command to Firefox.

I have the same problem with Firefox 3.6.13 and my new Dell Precision 6500. It has the Synaptics driver.
