Using a bluetooth optical mouse with 8600's built-in bluetooth

I've looked at Logitech's MX900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse and Microsoft's bluetooth mice.

Question: These mice both come with a bluetooth hub which I assume connects to your computer through the USB port. Since my 8600 has built-in bluetooth, do I still have to use the hub that comes with the mouse?

I'd prefer not to since it just occupy's the usb port, but I think I would still need to plug in the hub so that I can recharge the mouse...

Besides this, anyone have a bluetooth mouse? The MX900 looks nice.

I have the MX900 along with the bluetooth keyboard. It worked great until I installed the latest Bluetooth software from Dell. Now it shows the device, says it's connected, but doesn't work. If you didn't install the latest from Dell, it works great without the Logitech hub.

AV8ting: but do you still have to plug the hub in eventually to recharge the mouse?

I think the hub/charger has a power adapter in addition to USB cable so you don't need to plug USB in at all.  Good post, was wondering about this myself.

You have to plug the base into the wall for charging the mouse, but the base does not have to be plugged into the computer. Be advised that the mouse resolution drops to 400 dpi when using the laptops bluetooth adaptor. To get the advertised 800 dpi, you need to use the base plugged into the laptop via USB.

By the way, I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest bluetooth drivers from Dell, and got the mouse to work again.
