WinDVD MFC Application Error

Inspiron 8500 Windows XP Professional with SP2. WinDVD fails to run correctly after install, either the OEM CD Dell Vs 4 or downloaded trial product from InterVideo website Vs. 6. When the program comes up all seems well then it accesses the DVD in the drive and that's when the error occurs. The message is WinDVD has to shut down WinDVD mfc application error. Installed PowerDVD Vs 6 with no issues. Any ideas?
