XPS M1710 Issues. Please help!
Alrite, generally speaking I don't like bugging people about a problem, that I could fix. But this time, I'm really and utterly stuck as to what is going on with my laptop.
So the specs are
Dell XPS M1710
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2.0ghz
2 Gig of RAM
100GB 7200RPM HD
512MB GeForce 7950GTX with 171.16 forceware drivers
righty...so I load up CoD4...try it at 800X600 (FPS spikes 20s up to 80s, most of the time spiking between 20s and 40s). I mean I got the latest drivers and "supposedly" this top of the line PC, and I get weird FPS spikes, just jumps around between 20s up to 40s.
To make matters worse...I called tech support and they said it could have been a faulty graphics card, so they already replaced the graphics card with a new 7950GTX.
so my question is...what on earth is going on? What kind of settings is the 1710 supposed to be able to play without any spikes?
Please help!

I did notice however, it seems even at idle my CPU usage in task manager is spiking. Does this mean the CPU or the motherboard could possibly have gone bad?
Need some help guys ><
