AC adapter not installed

In descending order of probability:

1.  Damaged plug on the adapter (try another OEM Dell adapter),

2.  Damaged mainboard jack (assuming you're referring to the round one, it can be replaced).  You can also charge the system over a USB-C/Thunderbolt connection).

3,  Bad charge circuit (requires a replacement system board.
