Auto Brightness Fix Doesn't Solve Problem

Question

I found an earlier post on problems with webcam exposure by @ESLTeacher - I also teach ESL and need the webcam to work for the same reasons. A post by @abcdefg recommended using Skype's camera controls to disable auto white balance and a subsequent post also suggested disabling auto exposure. These work to a point but create other problems on my Latitude 5520 (running Win 11). First, in order to get a decently bright image, I have to boost the exposure setting to its max of -4 and increase the brightness to 40 - pretty severe adjustments that don't result in a very natural-looking image. Second, if I use Windows' Camera app, it automatically sets both exposure and white balance settings back to auto. When that occurs, as another contributor mentioned, every few seconds, the image will get significantly brighter for a while, then return to a normal-looking exposure, as if the lighting in my room were getting brighter and dimmer, although there's no change in the lighting in my room at all. The auto-exposed image the Camera app provides is much more natural, but I need to eliminate that cyclical 'blooming,' which I have to conclude is due to some disagreement between the Dell integrated webcam and the auto exposure setting. Note: neither SupportAssist nor Windows troubleshooter found any problems with the webcam. One more note. I also have an older Latitude E5550 running Win 10. I've never had these problems with that laptop. Both drivers are dated 6/21/2006 and reference the same driver files, but the Win 11 driver is a higher version.
