Can't update BIOS, needs password?

I'm trying to update my laptop but Dell Update can't install the latest BIOS update because it requires a password. However, I've never set a BIOS password, and I have multiple successful updates in my BIOS event log as recently as a couple months ago. Does anyone know what I can do here?

Download and install the update outside of Dell Update/Support Assist.

I have the same problem as OP.  When trying to run update outside of Dell Update app, this is the real error message that appears:

It appears that the update site is pointing to the wrong BIOS update. My current BIOS version is listed below.

Using the command:

> wmic bios get smbiosbiosversion

SMBIOSBIOSVersion

1.0.23
