D610 Memory Compatibility

Hello everyone: I recently acquired three D610s from the trash bin. Yes, I know they are practically 20 years old, however, I am planning on using the parts to make one functional (maybe two) retro laptop. I know the maximum memory it can take is 2GB, but I'm having some confusion on compatibility. Dell says that it takes DDR2-533 (PC2-4200), however I have read that some people have used DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) and it works fine. I have some extra DDR2-667 sticks somewhere; I am hoping to avoid buying more sticks than I have to.  Can someone verify this?

I am also planning on putting an Intel Pentium M 780 (2.25 GHz) processor in as well as a solid state drive (There exists a PATA to SATA converter, so I'll use one of those), and replace the CMOS battery. Theoretically, it can handle Windows 10, but it'll be painfully slow, so I will be putting Windows 7 on it.

Otherwise compatible RAM should simply downclock -- that should not pose an issue.

Whether a converter from SATA to parallel ATA will work is an experiment you'll have to try.
