D630 Battery Compatibility
Greetings,
I am trying to source a battery for a D630 notebook. The battery is not charging and the notebook shuts off as soon as AC is unplugged. Looking at the specs for the machine's service tag, the battery spec is:
Part 312-0486
Sub parts: NT390 MOD,BTRY,PRI,56WH,6C,SIMPLO
KP433 BTRY,PRI,56WHR,6C,LITH,SIMPLO
A number of sites offer replacement batteries for the D630. However most show compatibility with:
312-0384, NT379, etc; but not with the part numbers listed above.
Does anyone have experience with replacing a battery in this model? If battery is compatible with model, but precise part number does not show on battery website, is there a good chance it will work? The machine is old and this is not a warranty issue.
Advice will be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Graham

Welcome to the Dell Community @gderreck
I have found that most 3rd party batteries will work on this model.
There are 3 types of batteries for this model laptop.

PartsPeople are out of stock at the moment but they can still be used for part numbers and references.
If you remove the CD/DVD you will see the contacts for a second battery.
Best regards,
U2

Thanks U2. I think I'll contact those folks and check when they'll be back in stock.

Update,
I was able to source the battery in Canada. I won't mention the vendor in case that is forbidden. The vendor has telephone service, they are actually there, they are courteous and they know their business.
I am posting this in case anyone from Our Home and Native Land needs a batter. PM me and I'll give you the link.
Thanks again U2, your reply made me realize it made sense to look into alternate sources.
