Dell 65W charger type c cable cut
Hi Techies,
I have Dell 65W type C charger for Latitude model laptop.
Unfortunately, the type c part is crushed under the work table's leg and broke completely.
I am trying to attach a new type c cable to it but the cables look completely different.
Dell charger has 3 cables out (Blue, Black, White) while a general type c cable has 4 cables (Red, Black, Green, Yellow) - image attached.
I knew there's an E-maker chip on the type c pin which negotiates for voltage/current levels and I believe that any type c cable has.
Could somebody help me in identifying the cables to be connected or any resolution further (rather than not replacing the charger, as it's completely alright).
Thanks
Comrade

Hi
If you have both ends, then you coud splice in a 'middle' bit.
That is making 2 joints but you can get it right first time.

I am clear on White wire (VCC/+ve) and Black wire (GND/-ve). But not so on Blue wire.
If the Blue is D+, does D- go to (GND/-ve)?
Thanks.

Hi raisahmad,
Thanks for your update.
Blue can be ignored or connected to the earth/ground.
Hope it helps,
Bob

@BobTheBuilderAU
Hi,
I meant to ask if Blue connects to (D+) and it's the only cable [there is no cable for D- to complete the circuit] then probably, Blue's negative counterpart is already grounded inside the power adapter.
If Blue cable is left out, how would the power level negotiations work between the device and power supply?
Thanks.

@raisahmad my previous reply to your message is to refer this replacement cable: white +; black -; and the blue is the earth. It has the same color schema as the Dell Charger and works well.
