Dell Latitude E5520 overheating issue

Question

my dell latitude E 5520 keeps shutting down.I installed a new fan and cleaned the dust but when I play a game on it the fan just gets slow and then the system overheats and shutsdown, and sometimes the laptop is not even hot and shuts down. and also tell me if I should upgrade my laptop to windows 10.
