Docking station for latitude e7270
I have a latitude e7270 and I need to buy a docking station as I am also purchasing two monitors. I have no clue which docking stations are compatible with this laptop. Would anyone know of a resource that can show me what is comptabile with this. Much appreciated! Thank you.

@danamccarthy I take it back. The DisplayPort 1.2 support may matter for your setup if you specifically intend to run dual 2560x1440. Even though each output will only need 1.1a, the E7270 will send the signal for both displays as a single DP 1.2 interface for the dock, so the dock will need to support that on its input side. (The dock will then split the signal into unique outputs for each display.) So I’d definitely aim for second generation, which shouldn’t be difficult to find anyway.
One other thing. If you haven’t bought displays yet, make sure they have DisplayPort inputs just to make things easy. Otherwise, if they only have HDMI, you can use typical adapters only if their resolution is 1920x1200 or lower. But if you want to run 2560x1440 from that dock, you will need to use the DisplayPort outputs on the dock and then you will need either DisplayPort or Mini-DisplayPort on the displays, or if the displays only have HDMI inputs, you’ll need special “active” DP to HDMI adapters, not the much more common passive adapters. I can get into why if you’re really curious.

@danamccarthy Your best option would be the Dell E-Port Plus dock, preferably the second generation model so you can get a pair of USB 3.0 ports on the back rather than only USB 2.0. The second generation dock also supports DisplayPort 1.2 rather than just 1.1a, but with your system and a dual display setup that won’t matter. The way to tell the generations apart is that the rear USB ports are blue on the second generation and black on the original. The left USB ports are always black and always 2.0.
These docks are very easy to find on the used market these days, although they’re sometimes sold without power adapters. In that case, separately buy a 130W Dell AC adapter that has the standard 7.4mm barrel style connector, not the 4.5mm slim tip.
The E-Port Plus dock provides dual DVI and dual DisplayPort outputs, and with that system model and a dual display setup, the highest you can go is 2560x1440 60 Hz on each display.

@jphughan Hi, I just have a question about this topic, I was wondering whether this dock would in fact allow for dual extended displays, meaning I can have my laptop screen, and 2 Other screens working independently, Or would it be like a splitter, where the laptop screen is mirrored onto the 2 other screens. Thanks,

@Peely07 The E-Port docks and any other docking station model will allow you to treat attached external displays as extended displays. You wouldn’t be limited to just mirroring. However, whether you can have two dock displays and your built-in display all running independently at the same time will depend on whether your system’s GPU supports three simultaneous displays. Some systems that work with E-Port docks have GPUs that support this, while others are limited to two total displays.
