E6430 CPU Upgrade
Hi All,
I was wondering if someone can help...I have a Latitude E6430 it has 16 gig of RAM Windows 10, Samsung 860 EVO drive, upgraded screen 1600x900 resolution, back lit keyboard, Intel on-board graphics, and the 7260 Intel wireless card
I am looking to upgrade the CPU from an I5-3320 2.6 GHZ Dual core to an i7-3540M 3.0GHz Dual Core or possibly a quad core I7 can this be done without worrying about overheating issues or modifications
I basically use the machine for processing photos, watching movies no game playing
I actually can get the i7-3540M 3.0GHz Dual Core for around $60.......is it worth it to do this upgrade ????
Thanks in advance....shirschb2

Welcome to the Dell Community @dellyann
Without testing it I cannot say yes or no.
It is on the list but only has a 62% sucess rate.

I have had a refurbished Dell latitude E6430 for 3 years now, and am considering upgrading the i5 to i7. Technically challenged. Where can I find the i7 and is this something I could do myself (if as simple as pop out old, insert new??) or should I take it to a professional? Would it be cheaper to just get a new laptop?
Thanks!

core-i7 374QM has TDP 45 Watt.....
will it cause over-heating issue?? my current system has core-i5 3340M which has TDP 35watt.

Hello,
I have upgrade to the i7 3840QM, but the turbo boost does not work.
Have you any suggestions how to enable the turbo boost?
Turbo boost is enabled in BIOS

Turbo boost also requires SpeedStep -- make sure that is enabled as well.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Ciretheking
Turbo is enabled for High Performance power plans on all Intel and AMD processors and it is disabled for Power Saver power plans.
Have you checked your power options???

Thank you for your answer
Speed Step is enabled, but still just 2.8ghz even with 170W power supply.

@U2CAMEB4ME Thank you very much for the welcome.
I just have balanced mode on my windows 10, so I enabled ultimate and high performance with some tricks. But unfortunately no change

@U2CAMEB4ME
I use HWMonitor and Intel XTU and Cinebench R15 as well.
I also tried a BIOS downgrade, no success.
The strange thing is that the CPU just take 26.6W, but the CPU has an TDP of 45W.
I've got the version with nvidia graphics, is there any correlation?
Regards,
Eric

Hola!
